Gibraltar is a small, narrow peninsula, located at the southern edge of Spain. It overlooks the Strait of Gibraltar, and the northern coastal areas of Africa. There’s a spectacular rock monolith that dominates its landscape – it’s called “The Rock” or “The Rock of Gibraltar” and it stands at 1,394 ft, (425m).
What To Do:
Gibraltar is a pleasant surprise for first time visitors, while frequent visitors can’t get enough of its diverse range of attractions.
• Get married! Did you know that famous personalities chose to get married in Gibraltar? Some of them are Hollywood star Sean Connery and music legend John Lennon (to Yoko Ono). There are no residency restrictions and in theory you can get married with just 24 hours notice.
• Go bird watching The bird watching high season extends from February to June, and from July to October.
• Shop in Main Street Gibraltar’s principal shopping Mecca. It runs almost the length of town and the shops are filled with goods of all kinds at attractive prices.
Where To Eat:
There is an amazing choice of places to eat and drink in Gibraltar. Make sure you take some time to relax in one of the many al fresco bars, restaurants and cafeterias.
• Restaurant & Tapas Bar La Barcina – The best menu items include a spicy Iberian fish stew, a house steak in a mustard-flavored cream sauce, a collection of grilled fish and a savory array of tapas.
• Corks Wine Bar – It’s one of the preferred venues for Gibraltar’s business community, who appreciate the free tapas (the selection changes daily) served every day from 5 to 9 P.M.
Where To Stay:
Hotels in Gibraltar are inspected annually by the RAC (Royal Automobile Club) of the UK. The hotels on the Rock are awarded stars. For smaller hotels or those not willing to provide full facilities, a system of diamond ratings is used.

How to get there:
Gibraltar is accessible by land, sea and air. Daily direct scheduled air services originate from the UK & Spain. There are regular scheduled air services to Gibraltar from London Gatwick, London Luton and Madrid all less than three hours away. There is a ferry service that operates between Gibraltar and Tangier in Morocco. You can also drive from Spain to Gibraltar.
